It’s a public holiday in the US today. President’s Day. We reckoned everything would be particularly busy so used the day as a travel day to drive up to Big Bear Mountain. We had to pick between this one and the next snow resort over (Mountain High) so we picked this one because they have snowmaking facilities and the snow hasn’t been all that great this season (according to the forum reports). 
The drive up was quite easy – there was a load of traffic coming back into LA after the holiday weekend but it was relatively light going our way. We’ve got a log cabin for the next few nights. Our plan is to hit the slopes early tomorrow. The elevation here is over 7000 feet, and the stars are much brighter than they appear in the city.
