Autumn Beach Fun

The weather is turning a bit chilly here in Melbourne, but we are still getting some beautiful Autumn days. We try to make the most of the sunshine, and there is no better place to enjoy some fresh air than the beach. The water is cold this time of year, but it amazes me how much cold kids can withstand when they are having fun. I’m too old and complainy for cold water, so I watch from the warmth of the sand.

It didn’t take too long for the boys to get themselves soaking, and then freezing. Off came the wet tops while they got some Vitamin D on their backs. Do you know how important Vitamin D is? I didn’t for such a long time, and covered my boys from head to foot with sun cream. Now we embrace the sun.

While IrishDoom was posing for this photo there was a surprise attack.

Man down! With most kids this could end in a fight, but not with my little angels.

It’s all in good fun.

No strikes or retaliation strikes.

Things are NOT escalating out of control. It’s just brotherly love. Really, they are hugging!!

“Ok boys, take it easy!” I said, and sent the trouble maker off to find his dad.

IrishDoom decide to chill and dig for treasure.

I think he has mischief in mind!

“I found some treasure, Mum!”

“Hmm, looks old”, he said. I wasn’t really listening to him, I was too busy taking photos.

Next thing it was up at his mouth What?? A cigarette butt? “Drop that dirty thing this instant” I bellowed, as he pretend smoked. What is it with kids and pretend smoking? I don’t think my boys know anyone who smokes, yet they often pretend to smoke. Weird.

What do you do when you mum starts to lecture on the dangers of smoking? Bury your head in the sand, or if you can’t do that then do the next best thing…. cover your head in sand.
