they might be giants

IrishWrath

We’ve been staying in the Orange County so far. It’s about five hours drive from the Sequoia National Park, where the giant Redwoods are. So when I heard that they have redwoods at a nearby Fullerton Arboretum I was very keen to check it out. Some of the Redwoods have been alive for thousands of years so they are considered immortals.

We figured we should also visit the Discovery Science Centre as they have a Star Wars exhibition on (but we also thought that might be the same one that was on show at Melbourne’s Science Works so we were in two minds about that). We got to the Discovery Centre first to find a full car park with attendants directing us to a shopping mall car park across the road. This made us think twice as it was reminiscent of the Tutankhamun exhibit in Melbourne museum (think cattle herding thoughts…)

We decided to skip straight ahead to the Fullerton Arboretum without further ado. We were greeted by the sign at the front saying “established 1979”, they did have redwoods but only ones that were aged thirty years. It was a pleasant stroll round the gardens followed by a picnic outside and then back to the hotel for a swim in the pool and a barbecue on the veranda.
