four theme parks in one day
Four theme parks in one day! Are we that mad?
No we are not…well not completely; we went to two theme parks today, not four, but four sounded better for the tittle so I went with that! We arrived at Universal just after 10:30 and took care to go were the crowds weren’t (Simpsons first, then E.T. and the kids playground).
They had a ball in the ballhouse. IrishMum lay down on one of the park maps, and possibly because it was a reasonably hot day, the coloured print came off the map and went on her arm. So she looked like she had some kind of weird freaky tattoo that drew many stares from passers by. She found a restroom to clean it off pretty quickly. We had our packed lunch at Universal and then took in the Jimmy Neutron and Shrek simulators before heading over to the Islands of Adventure for the second half of the day. The walk to Islands of Adventure only took about fifteen mins because the two parks are right beside each other.
First up at this park was the Hulk rollercoaster. It looks good, quite a long lasting coaster and the queue was very short. So IrishWrath and I made our way up, got in line and strapped in when it was our turn. I wasn’t ready for the surprise launch about half way up the first ramp – it shoots straight up and gave me quite a fright. I rated this coaster very high (one of my favorites for the trip). Next up we rambled over to toon town where we got onto a Popeye rafting ride. The ride states that you get wet,
but so do a load of other rides so I wasn’t expecting to get drenched. We got soaked right through and then, to top the soaking I just took, IrishDoom and IrishCyborg announced that they wanted to do it again! So we did it a second time (just to get my shorts extra wet for the day). At this point we were starting to tire, but we still took in another two boat rides (at Jurrassic Park) and the Hippogrif coaster in Hogwarts (IrishKing could go on that one too). IrishWrath and I ended the day off with another trip on the Dragon Challenge (a bigger coaster in Hogwarts). While we were on that IrishMum told me afterwards of some banter at the Hogwarts Express; the station master was making a fuss of checking his watch and then looking around the platform.
Then he yelled out “Hey! Does anyone own this bag?” and IrishMum heard a voice beside her yell back “Yeah…I do”, she turned and saw IrishDoom smiling. The station master said ” How do I know it is your bag?… what’s in it?” to which IrishDoom replied ” there’s nothing in it, it’s empty coz it’s a pretend bag”. The station master again queried how he could prove it was his and IrishDoom ‘s retort was that the luggage was blue and he was wearing blue so it must be his….the station master said he could pick it up when he turns eleven and is on his way to Hogwarts for real!
