We’ve had a couple of weeks of watching dancing leprechauns on TV making magic marshmallows and seeing tacky ‘Oirish’ phrases bandied about on cheesy t-shirts for the run up to Paddy’s day but nothing could prepare us for the travesty of bad Australian accents announcing the half Kiwi half Aussie themed water park that is Acquatica.
Today was the last day of our flexi tickets and I’m glad to say we ended it with one of the best parks. The Yanks don’t seem to appreciate that NZ and Aus aren’t the same country, but it’s all in good fun. The attraction names were mostly NZ themed and there are Kiwi shaped bushes, but the voices were decidedly Australian (lots of ‘have a corker of a ride’ … but no “I’m wet as bro!”) The park was the better of the two water parks we were at, there was plenty for IrishKing to do, and loads to keep the rest happy.
Apart from all the water slides there was a wave pool and ‘Roa’s Rapids” which was a strong current river (about 1M deep all round) that the kids kept getting sucked back into, more often than not well after the particular child had well passed the exit zone. We spent a very enjoyable four hours at the park before coming home for some R&R and the start of the packing process!
