the boys are back in town
We are home safe and sound. The trip was remarkably easier than last year. We finished up the bag packing after breakfast and checked out if the hotel by midday. We had a leisurely drive from San Diego to LA stopping a load of times Carlsbad (Ruby’s diner for lunch), Costco (for petrol), Ikea (where we got some new carry on bags for the boys), and target.
Last stop was whole foods near LAX at 6pm for dinner. We dropped the car back and took the shuttle to the airport to find the check-in desk just opened. The security clearance queue wasn’t bad and the wait around the airport passed easily enough.
The flight home wasn’t full so there were quite a few empty seats. As usual everyone tried to get a three seat bed for themselves, but we couldn’t move till after takeoff. We did some hustling for seats as soon as the seat belt light went off and managed to secure two three seaters and two two seaters. At Melbourne airport I turned my phone on to get the taxi details and sure enough he was waiting for us; 45 mins later we were home! The bags got unpacked, I had a rest then drove with IrishWrath over to pick up the dogs. The traffic on the Freeway was light so it was an easy drive. It’s great to be home!
