planes, trains and automobiles…with pirates

7:51 and the kids were still sleeping! Our plan was to grab some essentials for Legoland early, before getting to the park for opening, but waking that late meant we only had time for breakfast at the hotel.
The park is aimed at younger children (up to 9-12) so IrishKing could go on everything.

Going off season meant that many of the rides were closed, but it also meant less crowds….way less crowds. Some of the attractions had signs stating the expected wait time from this point is 60 mins! Even the tame rides had these signs, so I would not want to come here in high season.

Driving school legoland review

Drive on the Right…or is it the Left ?

They got some driving lessons at traffic school, and showed that they have the potential to drive as well (read badly) as me! We tricked IrishMum into getting on the Lego Technics roller coaster, and when she stopped screaming her throat was sore. Of course she did get her revenge at the pirate boats…I didn’t know there were water guns that could hit the boats from the shore till it was too late, and I was drenched.

One of our better purchases here were the Oshgosh raincoats…we can spot the kids from a distance!

IrishWrath dared the Knight Tournament on level 4 then twice at level 5.. and as his side kick I felt nauseous after.

Flying High!

The build your own Lego figures was a big hit, as was the build and test your own Lego car. 5pm rolled round quite fast and the park was done. One day was sufficient, when the park is so empty that queues are 5 mins instead of 60. In Florida our plan is to use multi-day passes so we don’t need to stay the full day to get the value.

Rubys Dessert

Chocolate Fudge Brownie Supreme Sundae Deluxe

After Legoland we went back to the same diner as yesterday, the cardboard cars are the flavor of the day in our house, and the burgers are fantastic. Today we got a choice of cars (a mustang and a chevvy 58), so we decided to have dinner then visit walmart to get some car seats before heading back for dessert, bagging another four cars in the process. The diner has two model trains running on track suspended a foot from the ceiling, and heaps of 50’s nostalgia, so it looks like an authentic version of Eddie Rockets (note for Australian readers; Eddie Rockets is a Irish version of the American diner).

Ruby’s fold up cars!

The way they are treating these cars I’ll expect one or two are going to make it back to Melbourne. It’ll be an easy day tomorrow, we will be driving back up to LA for our last night before flying on to Florida.
