Southern Sand Octopus

Playing around at the beach the other day, we spotted an Southern Sand Octopus at the shore line. It looked like it was trying to crawl back into the sea. We watched for a while, but kids were starting to get worried that it wouldn’t make it, so I picked it up (with a lot of sand between my hand and its slimy body), and put it back in the ocean. It was stunned for a minute then began to swim. It was truly amazing to watch. This was the first ever octopus that we have seen in the wild. We followed it around for a bit, possibly getting too close for its liking, it warned us off by shooting ink at us! Missed though;)
